Assistant Insect Production Manager (m/w/d)

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Insect Production Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible in overseeing daily operations and supervising the team, ensuring optimal production efficiency, quality control, ordering of feed, and adherence to safety standards, as well as managing key aspects in R&D and our breeding program. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about sustainable agriculture and insect farming. This role will be reporting to the Head of Production, and is located at our facility in 84564, Oberbergkirchen, Germany.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervision and coordination of production tasks, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.

- Training of production and R&D employees, delegation of tasks, and provision of guidance and mentorship to enhance team performance and productivity.

- Compile and analyze production data and KPIs to evaluate performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive informed decision-making.

- Create internal shift and task plannings in production, research and development and deliveries to customers.

- Plan and supervise R&D activities and trials in collaboration with the Head of Production and R&D Scientists.

- Ensure prompt acquisition and transfer of data for data analysis and reporting to upper management.

- Prompt ordering of feeds and performance of quality checks.

- Prepare comprehensive reports for management review, providing insights into production performance, challenges, and proposed solutions.

- Foster effective communication across the team and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.

- Manage and forecast inventory, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring cost-efficiency.

- Work with different shifts and schedules, including in the weekends and holidays.

Minimum requirements:

- Relevant experience in a production role at an institutional/ industrial level, ideally within the insect or plant industry. Experience within the Black Soldier Fly industry is most advantageous.

- BSc/ Msc in Biological Sciences, including Entomology, Biology, Agronomy or other relevant areas.

- Demonstrated proficiency in effectively communicating and leading a team, ideally within an insect production or related setting.

- Proven ability to train employees, impart knowledge, and facilitate skill development effectively.

- Strong track record of making informed decisions, analyzing data, and problem-solving in a production environment.

- Experience in conducting risk analyses and criticality assessments to ensure safety and efficiency in production processes.

- Commitment to continuous learning and upskilling in relevant areas, including insect biology, production techniques, and management practices.

- C1 level of proficiency in English and German.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as other statistical and data visualization tools.

- Possession of a valid Driver’s license.
